Simundic and Nikolac assessed the frequency of several common statistical errors in manuscripts submitted to Biochemia Medica during 2006-2009.

The following errors were looked for: 1, incorrect use or presentation with descriptive statistics, 2, incorrect choice of statistical test, 3, incorrect use of statistical test for comparing 3 or more groups, 4, incorrect presentation of p-value, 5, incorrect interpretation of p-value, 6, incorrect interpretation of correlation analysis and 7, power analysis not provided.

Of the 55 manuscripts none reported power analysis, at least one the other errors was identified in 48 (87%) manuscripts.

The authors conclude that statistical errors are highly prevalent in manuscripts submitted to Biochemia Medica.
